Vacuum forming is a process in which a flat plastic sheet is fully heated by means of heating elements and then pulled against a mold under vacuum. It is the ideal technique for the production of small to medium-sized series, with the additional advantage that post-processing is possible, such as milling slots.
For this project we used a positive mold where the inside of the product was pulled against the mold. This resulted in a dimensionally stable inner size. The matte diffuser ensures a nice and even distribution of the light without sacrificing efficiency.
