Vacuum forming

Vacuum forming is the ideal technique for the production of small to medium-sized series. For vacuum forming we use aluminium moulds. This gives excellent results at affordable prices.

In the process a positive mould was used. Here the inside of the product is pulled against the mould. It is also possible to work with a negative mould. Here the outside of the product is pulled against the mould. This makes it possible to work with tighter lines in the product. The price of the mould is somewhat higher in that case.

Step 1: We stretch a plastic sheet (various materials and thicknesses possible) over of the mould.

Step 2: We heat the plastic sheet (above and below) up to the softening point (temp. at which the plastic can be remodelled).

Step 3: We bring the plastic sheet down. By means of the holes in the mould a vacuum is created so that the plastic sheet is pulled against the mould.

Step 4: We place the product on a CNC-calibre. The edges are finished and the product can be provided with e.g. holes or slots.
