Behind the scenes: Aaron Lanneau

Mechanical Engineer / Projectleider @ Artori

Today, we’re putting the spotlight on Aaron — for over a year now, a key link in the well-oiled machine that is Artori. After graduating with great distinction in Industrial Product Design from Howest in 2016, he went on to complete a postgraduate Masterclass in Industrial Design Engineering.

During his postgraduate studies, he completed an internship at a design studio, where he caught the product development bug, with a strong affinity for engineering. He took his first professional steps at a West Flanders-based developer of electric commercial vehicles, where he was responsible for the product development of various systems and components of a small electric vehicle. His next challenge came as a machine builder, designing a wide range of components and layouts — but… it left him wanting more.

Dream job in a passionate product development bureau

At a certain point, a vacancy at a West Flanders-based engineering bureau with a pronounced passion for product development caught his attention. The variety of projects, Artori’s distinctive approach to product development, and the responsibilities he would be entrusted with convinced him to apply. The role proved to be a perfect fit — and Managing Directors Inge and Steven felt the same way.

More than a year on, Aaron is working as a mechanical engineer and project lead. In this role, he is jointly responsible for end-to-end development and project follow-up across a diverse portfolio of projects.

True to his sporty nature, he arrives at the office every morning by bike, fresh and energised, before reviewing the planning and his emails. Around 70% of his role consists of the technical development of various projects, working closely with Product Development Director Steven, whose fresh perspective and expertise ensure everyone stays aligned.

During the daily huddle, they review project progress and adjust planning where needed. The different project phases are also carefully documented in Miro, creating an efficient working environment and ensuring full transparency towards clients.

Interaction, trust and a genuine passion for product development

It’s not only the positive day-to-day interaction, the close collaboration with clients, and the continuous learning curve that give Aaron great satisfaction — seeing prototypes and production parts come to life from his own drawings and engineering work plays an equally important role.

Trust lies at the heart of Aaron’s work: the trust he receives from his colleagues and from clients. It gives him the energy and drive to truly make a difference for Artori. In that same spirit, he sees himself continuing to grow within the company — gradually taking on more complex and larger projects, supported by colleagues and in close collaboration with clients and partners.

Aaron’s passion for product development also extends into everyday life. He enjoys analysing interesting and complex products and explaining them in detail to his girlfriend, Emma. Fortunately for her, product development isn’t the only thing on his mind. 🙂 In his free time, he spends time with Emma, works on renovating their home, and enjoys gardening. He is also fascinated by space exploration and a wide range of emerging technologies — from AI to transport — which he follows closely.
